Neeraj Chopra and Himani Mor were married last week. Here’s everything you need know about the wedding and how the couple met.
Neeraj Chopra, a two-time Olympic medalist, recently married Himani Mor, a former tennis player and sports management graduate. On Sunday, the 27-year-old used social media to share photos from his lovely alpine wedding. The celebrations were small, with only their immediate family members present.
Surendra Chopra, Neeraj Chopra’s uncle, has stated that the gold medalist in the Tokyo Olympics met Himani in the United States. Neeraj then requested permission from his family, and after receiving it, he decided to marry Himani.
“Both Neeraj and Himani are athletic. They knew each other. They had met each other in the United States.Neeraj was certain about the person he wanted to share his life with. He then sought permission from his family, and after that was done, he wanted to marry Himani,” Surendra Chopra explained.
It combines love and arranged marriage. “Neeraj and Himani sought permission from their parents before proceeding,”.
Neeraj Chopra’s uncle further revealed that he had planned the three-day wedding ceremonies in Himachal Pradesh from January 14 to 16. Even the ‘pandit’ who presided at the wedding was unaware of Neeraj Chopra’s identity.
Against Dowry.
Neeraj Chopra, who earned a silver medal at the Paris Olympics 2024, did not accept a dowry for his marriage. Instead, his family accepted a token of INR 1 as’shagun’.
We have long opposed the practice of dowry. Our family does not believe in the concept of dowry. Neeraj Chopra’s uncle shared, We only accepted one rupee as a token of shagun.
As part of the pre-marriage rites, Himani traveled to Neeraj Chopra’s village and stayed for 14 hours.
Neeraj has contests scheduled for the next two years. So if he hadn’t been married now, it would have been postponed for two years. They had their own reasons for choosing to marry today. It wasn’t a large function; it was a family one. Surendra Chopra stated that just 65-70 individuals had been invited, and that only members of both families attended.
