Live Coverage of Manmohan Singh’s Funeral: The final rites of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will take place on Saturday, December 28, at 11:45 a.m. at the Nigambodh Ghat crematorium in Delhi, as per an announcement by the Union Home Ministry on Friday.At the age of 92, Singh died on Thursday evening at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). He was India’s 13th prime minister and the first Sikh to hold the position, heading the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) administration from May 2004 until May 2014.
Dr. Manmohan Singh will be honored with a state funeral, as announced by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). The ceremony is set to take place on December 28, 2024, starting at 11:45 a.m. at Nigambodh Ghat in New Delhi.
He was brought to the AIIMS Medical Emergency in New Delhi at 8:06 p.m. on Thursday. Despite extensive attempts to revive him, he could not be saved and was declared deceased at 9:51 p.m., as stated by the hospital. After stepping away from public life following the Congress Party’s loss to the BJP in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, In August 2023, Dr. Manmohan Singh marked his last appearance in the Rajya Sabha, where he had been a serving member.
