Updates on Manmohan Singh’s Funeral
1. At 8 a.m. on Saturday, his body will be taken from his residence to the Congress headquarters on Akbar Road, where the public can pay their respects.
2. A funeral procession is scheduled to depart for Nigambodh Ghat at 9:30 a.m., with the cremation ceremony set to take place at 11:45 a.m., accompanied by full state honors.
3. On Friday night, the Union Home Ministry announced that a plot of land would be dedicated to building a memorial for the late former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
4. The government stated that this has been notified to his family and Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, who had requested that former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s final rites be held at a location where a memorial might be built.
5. Meanwhile, cremation and other procedures can take place since a Trust must be founded and space granted for it, according to the home ministry.
6.The statement came after the Congress said that failing to find a venue for Manmohan Singh’s cremation and memorial was a deliberate disrespect to the country’s first Sikh Prime Minister.

Congress leader Jairam Ramesh expressed his disappointment on X, stating, “Our country’s citizens fail to comprehend why the Government of India could not secure a location for his cremation and memorial that truly reflects his global stature, remarkable achievements, and decades of exceptional service to the nation.”
8. In the meantime, the Delhi Traffic Police has released a traffic advisory in preparation for the funeral of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh.
9. Restrictions, regulations, and diversions may be enforced on Ring Road (Mahatma Gandhi Marg), Nishad Raj Marg, Boulevard Road, SPM Marg, Lothian Road, and Netaji Subhash Marg starting at 7 a.m. and potentially continuing until 3 p.m.
10. The Delhi Police also recommended visitors heading to Old Delhi Railway Station, ISBT, Red Fort, Chandni Chowk, and Tis Hazari Court to leave with enough time to account for potential delays on the route.
