In comparison, Vicky Kaushal’s film Chhaava has surpassed The Diplomat at the box office, even on its 30th day of release. Despite being released a month ago, the historical biographical drama remains a threat. Chhaava grossed ₹6.92 crore on its fifth Saturday. Chhaava has collected a total of ₹553.67 crore.
The Diplomat Review
Review of The Diplomat states, “Among the performers, Sadia readily stands out with a rich character. She can convey Uzma’s pain and anxiety on film and meets the bill. Revathy’s portrayal of late former Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj is brief but memorable. Sharib has nothing much to do. Jagjeet Sandhu delivers a convincing performance as the aggressive Tahir. Kumud Mishra as advocate NM Sayyed is enjoyable to see, as usual.”
The film is directed by Shivam Nair (of Naam Shabana fame) and stars Sadia Khateeb. The film is inspired by the real-life events of Uzma Ahmad, an Indian national. She was returned to India in 2017 after allegedly being honeytrapped by a Pakistani guy. She said that she was forced to marry at gunpoint and abused after visiting him in his home country.
