In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Zahan described how he grew up isolated from the rest of the Kapoor family because his grandfather, Shashi Kapoor,’made a purposeful decision to separate himself’ because ‘he cherished his solitude’. Zahan explained that they would only meet on special occasions. In fact, Zahan knew nothing about Ranbir until he made his debut with Saawariya.
“Let me tell you a humorous story. I am so humiliated about it. I didn’t know much about Ranbir Kapoor before he was introduced. Of course, I knew Chintu Uncle. But we were so separated. As a small child, I lived in my own universe.
In 2007, he made his debut with Saawariya as a young adult. “I was still in school,” the actor explained.
Zahan has recently deepened his friendship with his cousins. Kareena even gave him a shoutout before his Netflix drama Black Warrant premiered last month. “It feels amazing to be able to share my work with them now. I recall watching Rockstar twice on the same day. Our one-on-one interaction was not as close to phoning him and discussing Rockstar. But now, things have improved, Zahan clarified. Zahan Kapoor discusses growing up outside the industrial bubble.
Zahan explained how his upbringing outside the ‘business bubble’ allowed him live a regular existence. He expressed, I feel incredibly lucky to have been raised in such a one-of-a-kind setting. My parents were also creators, albeit from outside the industry. My grandfather had retired by the time I was born. So, I did not grow up in the industry bubble, so to speak. I was afforded the privilege of living a truly ordinary, average existence. “I learned about these things as an adolescent.”
