Ticket prices for Salman Khan’s flick Sikandar have risen to ₹2200 in multiplexes and ₹700 in single-screens due to increased excitement.

Sikandar advance bookings have begun, and ticket prices for the Salman Khan flick are already reaching astronomical levels.

Salman Khan’s next film, Sikandar, will be released in theaters on Eid, March 30. Because this is Salman’s first major release in over a year, many believe the hype for the picture was initially minimal. Many people were perplexed by the trailer’s late release, which came just a week before its scheduled release. But it appears that the buzz is finally picking up. If the film’s ticket prices are any indication of demand, Sikandar is definitely buzzing. Across metros, Sikandar tickets are selling for over ₹2000, with some single-screen theaters offering recliner seats as high as ₹700.

Sikandar ticket prices rise to beyond ₹2000.
The advance booking for the Salman Khan film began on Thursday. By Thursday evening, the ticketing service BookMyShow had launched advance booking for practically all theatres in the country. At Plaza Cinema in Mumbai’s Dadar, recliner seats can cost up to ₹700 for evening shows. This is unusually high for a single-screen theater, especially in Mumbai. While some see this as a sign of high ticket demand, others in the industry are concerned that it may drive away customers. Single-screen cinemas are typically designed for a large crowd that prefers low ticket rates. Ticket prices for single screens in other areas, such as Delhi’s Delite, often range from ₹90-200.

Multiplexes have already implemented blockbuster pricing for premium tickets. Multiplexes in Mumbai offer ‘director’s cut’ or ‘luxe’ tickets for up to ₹2200. In Delhi, costs range between ₹1600 and ₹1900. Despite the hefty prices, many screens in Delhi-NCR have already sold out. In major cities, typical multiplex seats can cost up to ₹850-900.

Sikandar’s advance booking numbers
Sikandar has made a fantastic start with advance bookings, earning little under ₹4 crore in the first 24 hours. With two full days till the publication, the figure is certain to rise significantly. And, as with every Salman Khan picture, Sikandar will see a lot of spot booking in smaller theatres, which will boost its day one collection. As things stand, the picture appears to be on track for a successful premiere.

AR Murugadoss directs Sikandar, which also stars Rashmika Mandanna, Kajal Aggarwal, Sharman Joshi, and Sathyaraj. The film will be released internationally on March 30.
