Back in 2022, Bollywood heartthrob Kartik Aaryan and filmmaker Anurag Basu grabbed the world by storm when they revealed their first collaboration, Aashiqui 3. The film has been making waves in recent months, beginning with Triptii Dimri’s appearance and ending with rumours that her ‘image’ post Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal (2023) did not suit the screenplay. The director revealed that the movie’s title has been altered, and a fresh female lead will be announced soon. When discussing Triptii’s departure, he mentioned date concerns. The musical’s teaser is already out, and Sreeleela has been cast as the protagonist opposite Kartik.
Sreeleela has been the talk of the town since she burned the dance floor in Pushpa 2: The Rule last year alongside Allu Arjun in the song Kissik. The actor, who has mostly worked in Telugu and Kannada film, will now make her Bollywood debut alongside Kartik Aaryan in Anurag Basu and Pritam’s musical. The teaser dropped today, but the title has yet to be revealed. However, in the teaser video, Kartik’s character sings ‘Tu hi aashiqui hai’. This trailer, as well as Kartik’s appearance with long hair, a scruffy beard, and a guitar in his palm, reminded viewers of two big hits: Ranbir Kapoor’s Rockstar (2011) and Shahid Kapoor’s Kabir Singh (2019).
