Chhava, starring Vicky Kaushal, had over 95-97% occupancy for Saturday night shows in Maharashtra.
In its first two days at the box office, Laxman Utekar’s Chhaava has done exceptionally well. Featuring Vicky Kaushal in the lead role, the film has amassed more than ₹67 crore at the domestic box office within just two days and is well on its way to surpassing the ₹100 crore mark by the end of its opening weekend. Due to overwhelming demand for tickets, exhibitors are adding late-night and early-morning events, primarily in Maharashtra.
Chhaava sees early morning and late shows.
Chhaava is a historical drama that chronicles the life of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the valiant son of Chhatrapati Shivaji, highlighting his relentless struggle against the Mughal ruler Aurangzeb. Given its historical backdrop and Sambhaji’s cult status in Maharashtra, the film has performed well in the state. Many theatres in Mumbai and Pune began midnight screenings for the film on Sunday, extending the screening window by a few hours. Smaller theatres have even started 6 a.m. and 1 a.m. Showings, as reported by theater operators.
According to Bollywood Hungama, show times at several places throughout Mumbai have been extended to 12.45 a.m., 1 a.m., 1.15 a.m., and even 1.30 a.
However, these have not yet taken effect. KoiMoi stated that after occupancy reached 95% in Pune, many theaters began showing 6 a.m. shows.
Chhaava’s Performance in Maharashtra
On Saturday, Chhaava had 50% occupancy across all shows, but by night, it had grown to 69%. In Mumbai, the figure was astonishing 93%, while in Pune, it increased to 97%. Chhaava has also performed admirably in the south, with Saturday night show occupancy rates of 81% in Chennai and 88% in Hyderabad.
Vicky Kaushal plays Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, while Akshaye Khanna portrays Emperor Aurangzeb. The movie stars Rashmika Mandanna and Divya Dutta, with critics offering a mixed reception—applauding the performances but pointing out the sluggish pacing.
