Karan Johar claims to be a realist who is not overconfident in his filmmaking abilities. He mentioned that he views his success as a result of good fortune rather than personal talent.
Karan Johar stands as a prominent figure in Bollywood and serves as the visionary leader of Dharma Productions. In an interview with Komal Nahta, the director stated that he considers himself more ‘lucky than talented’ and is a realist about his work. Karan further asserted that many people in the film industry suffer from an incurable delusion.
Karan Johar claimed that many people in the industry are entirely removed from reality.
What Karan said.
During the conversation, Karan revealed that he didn’t believe he deserved all of his achievements until years after his directorial debut. He shared, ‘There was a moment while working on the set of My Name Is Khan when I thought to myself, “Perhaps I finally understand my craft.”‘ I’ve always believed that luck has favored me more than my own abilities. I am a realist and not fooled. Delusion is an illness for which there is no vaccine. If I had that vaccination, I would have given it to many people in this industry. “They are all deluded.”
I am 80 percent realistic.
He went on to say, “We must be diplomatic.” I’m not deluded. I am quite aware of my films and understand why some worked and others did not. I am 80 percent practical. 20% could be in aspiration. Sometimes I don’t get these people. I’m not sure if they’re lying to themselves or believe they’ve developed a terrific film. In fact, it is not.”
