Mamta Kulkarni, a former performer, replied to rumors of paying ₹10 crore to become the Mahamandaleshwar and shared her financial struggles.
Mamta Kulkarni, who was recently appointed as Kinnar Akhara’s Mahamandaleshwar, was removed from the office owing to internal community conflicts. The actor responded to rumors that she spent ₹10 crore to become Mahamandaleshwar.
Mamta faces allegations of paying ₹10 crore to become Mahamandaleshwar.
Mamta denied the charges, citing her terrible financial situation, saying, “Mere pass ₹10 crore kya ₹1 crore bhi nahi hai.” The government just seizes bank accounts. Aapko malum nahi hai, kis tarah se reh rahi hun. Even if my salary is only ₹2 lakh, I will be able to support my guru. I don’t even have a single rupee to my name, let alone ₹10 crore. My bank accounts have been frozen by the government, and you can’t imagine the struggle I’m going through just to survive. I do not have any money. I had to borrow ₹2 lakh from someone to donate as ‘dakshina’ to my guru when I was made Mahamandaleshwar.
The former Bollywood actor confessed, “Three of my properties are in disarray and infected with termites because they have been shuttered for the previous 23 years. I can’t begin to convey the financial disaster I’m going through.”
Mamta Kulkarni’s selection as Kinnar Akhara’s Mahamandaleshwar generated controversy and internal conflict within the community. On January 31, Rishi Ajay Das, the Kinnar Akhara’s founder, released a press statement confirming her dismissal. He mentioned that she was granted the title and patta of Mahamandaleshwar directly, without adhering to any religious or akhara tradition and without initially being ordained as a renunciate. As a result, in the interest of the country, Sanatan Dharma, and society, I am reluctantly constrained to remove her from her position.
