We faced a variety of challenges and hurdles throughout the journey. The journey was far from easy, filled with challenges at every turn. We had to showcase our film in various regions, and it underwent intense examination from all sides. Despite these hurdles, we’ve made it to this point. Kangana shared her joy, saying, ‘Our steadfast faith in the constitution, our country, and the censor board has allowed us to share this video with the public. We are ecstatic to introduce this film to global audiences.

Kangana had no choice but to sell her Mumbai property due to the delay in the film’s release date. She could never have anticipated encountering so many challenges while creating a film.
I never anticipated facing so many hurdles during the making of this film. Typically, my projects are produced with a fairly manageable budget, but this one presented numerous obstacles, from studio issues to funding problems. The hardest part, however, was the constant uncertainty surrounding its release. We kept wondering, ‘Will it even see the light of day?’ That question lingered in our minds throughout,” Kangana shared.

Kangana’s second directorial effort centers on the 21-month Emergency enacted by then-Prime Minister Indira Gandhi from 1975 to 1977.
Emergency missed its September 6, 2024 release date because it was unable to receive a clearance certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification. A couple of Sikh organisations reportedly protested to the film’s release and accused the filmmakers of distorting the truth.

Following months of hard work, the CBFC has finally approved *Emergency*, featuring Kangana Ranaut. It is currently planned for release on January 17. Emergency, a production by Zee Studios in collaboration with Manikarnika Films, features a talented cast that includes Anupam Kher, Shreyas Talpade, and the late Satish Kaushik.
